Beach Pier Parking Lot and Seawalk Reconstruction - Jacksonville Beach, FL
While employed with Haskell, Doug Skiles was the civil engineer for several projects
performed for the City of Jacksonville Beach. These include the City parking lot at
the Town Center Commons (199 spaces), the City parking lot at the Jacksonville
Beach Pier (214 spaces), the reconstruction of 1st Street North from Beach Boulevard
to 1st Avenue North (720 feet), the Town Center Commons area (2.6 acres), the
Seawalk Pavilion and the reconstruction of the existing Seawalk. The design process
for each project included many coordination meetings with the City staff. The project
permitting included the construction seaward of the coastal construction control line
(CCCL) with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. In addition, the
stormwater management was accomplished by demonstrating increased capacity in
the vault located beneath Beach Boulevard to the St Johns River Water Management
District.
